ABOUT

Art Director. Visual Storyteller. Pop Culture Dreamweaver.

Jayson Weidel is a celebrated Art Director and visionary illustrator whose work pulses with the energy of animation, film, and classic comic book nostalgia. With a career rooted in commission-based art and licensed poster design, Jayson crafts images that don’t just capture a moment—they resurrect the magic of the stories we grew up with and still carry in our hearts.

He is also the founder and curator behind the beloved pop culture art collective PLANET-PULP, launched in 2011—a digital haven where artists and fans collide over the shared love of pulp icons, cinematic treasures, and illustrated wonder. His work has lit up the walls of premier galleries from Gallery 1988 (LA/NYC), to Spoke Art (San Francisco/NYC), Hero Complex Gallery (LA), Outpost 512 (Dallas) and the much-missed Ltd. Gallery (Seattle). Online, Jayson’s creations have earned praise across influential geek and culture outlets like /FILM, i09 Gizmodo, Nerdist, and Laughing Squid.

In the commercial realm, Jayson has been entrusted by Dark Hall Mansion to bring classic properties to life—including legendary titles like The Thief of Bagdad (Douglas Fairbanks), The General (Buster Keaton), and The Beatles’ psychedelic cult classic HELP!. His officially licensed work for the Peanuts franchise has become a favorite among collectors and fans alike.

Jayson’s art has been featured in several iconic geek-art compilations, most notably Matthew Chojnacki's Alternative Movie Posters II: More Film Art from the Underground and The Complete Peanuts Family Album: The Ultimate Guide To Charles M. Schulz's Classic Characters an homage to the timeless characters of Charles M. Schulz from Weldon Owen Publishing.

Each piece Jayson creates isn’t just a poster—it’s a portal. A beautifully rendered invitation to remember what moved us as kids and what still inspires us today. His art hangs proudly in homes across the globe, not just as decoration, but as declaration: nostalgia is sacred, and pop culture is forever.
